The rate of animal extinction has reached alarming levels, with species disappearing at an unprecedented pace due to habitat destruction, climate change, pollution, illegal wildlife trafficking, and overexploitation.
Currently, one in every eight species is at risk of vanishing forever, threatening the delicate balance of ecosystems that sustain life on Earth. Humans and animals alike are facing dramatic fires, disease, threatened food chains, and more.
It is a reality that we can no longer ignore.
Yet in the face of this grim reality, there is hope. We are standing at a pivotal moment, where collective action can make a difference.
We have a bold vision for what the Toronto Zoo can be and what we must do – to scale our impact for generations to come. This involves investments in infrastructure, experiential learning, animal well-being, and our centre of excellence in conservation science.
Together with those who share our vision of a world where people, wildlife and wild spaces thrive, we are Guardians of Wild.
